Use Badges to Increase Matching Gift Revenue
Matching gifts are increasing in popularity. According to the latest
research from HEP Development Services, the number of companies matching
to nonprofits continues to grow in spite of the recent economic
downturn. In fact, through the beginning of November, HEP has added 187
companies with matching gift programs to its comprehensive GiftPlus(R) database since January.
Even so, many nonprofits are failing to take advantage of
opportunities to help donors seek out matching gift opportunities where
they work. The trick is to make it easy for donors to find this
information and apply for their employers' matching gift programs. One
of the innovative ways that fundraisers can do this for online donations
is to place a matching gift badge on their website's
donation form page. Donors can then simply click on the badge as part of
the process of making their online donation, and quickly find out
whether their gift can be matched.
The website of Susan G. Komen for the Cure of Maryland features a
matching gift badge developed by the nonprofit consulting firm Adcieo.
to see the badge, which is about halfway down the page. The badge links
directly to HEP Development Services' GiftPlus(R) database, which
allows donors quickly and easily to determine whether their employers
will match their gift to the Komen campaign.
Why not try a matching gift badge on your donation page? It's a simple and effective way to raise donor awareness -- and money.

Product Profile: Employer Find
Is your donor employer information outdated or perhaps even
nonexistent? If so, let HEP Development Services help fill in the gaps
with Employer FindTM.
Employer FindTM uses the latest information-gathering
technologies to scour proprietary and public databases and resources to
obtain employer information and job titles of donors, friends, and even
board members. HEP Development Services' sophisticated screening
technology and algorithms make it possible to find accurate employer information for approximately 20%-45% of donors.
The results can then be used to determine their match eligibility.
(Please note that results will vary with the type of nonprofit and the
accuracy of address and email information.)
By combining Employer FindTM with HEP's AutoMatch
electronic screening service, you'll be able to increase the "free
money" that your organization receives from matching gifts. For more
information, contact HEP Development at 703-669-5602.

Product Profile: AutoMatch
HEP Development Services has improved its popular AutoMatch
electronic screening service, which helps institutions increase alumni
and corporate support by identifying match-eligible donors.
AutoMatch uses sophisticated matching software to process donor employment information against HEP's comprehensive GiftPlus(R)
database of corporate matching gift programs. When a match is made, the
record is coded as eligible and appended with information on the
company's match program. Generally, HEP is able to match between 4-12%
of screened records with employer matching gift programs (please note
that results may vary from this average).
By allowing you to recover the time, energy and expense lost in
manual searches, and helping you increase matching revenue and donor
percentages, AutoMatch lets you put your institution in control of its
matching gift program. For more information, or to enroll in AutoMatch,
please contact one of HEP's Product Consultants at 800-681-4438 or firstname.lastname@example.org.

Webinar to Spotlight Mailing List Data Cleansing
"If you don't have good data about a potential donor, it's a lost opportunity," says Patrick Saeva,
the Director of Technical Strategy in Development and Alumni Relations
at Rochester Institute of Technology. "Information about personal
interests, affinities, family members, and wealth capacities needs to be
accessible for us to do our jobs." And as the number of ways to connect
with donors and alumni increases -- from cell phones and e-mail to
Twitter and Facebook -- the challenge of keeping that information
current also grows.
Find out how you can apply Saeva's time-tested techniques to improve
the value of your own organization's donor and alumni databases by
attending the free HEP webinar, "Data Cleansing Strategies," on Wednesday, November 11 at 2:00 p.m. ET.
In this informative session, Saeva will discuss how to analyze in-house
databases for accuracy and currency. You'll learn what to measure, how
to achieve the highest accuracy possible, how to identify and select
vendors, and how to set achievable goals and schedules.
Saeva will also demonstrate how to design your strategy as a
problem-solving exercise to engage your staff and volunteers, which will
give them ownership of the process. "This work is never done," Saeva
says. "It's kind of like cleaning your house -- especially if you have
kids. You may have done a great job cleaning it today, but tomorrow
you'll have to do a great job again."

HEP/CASE Matching Gift Network Announces New Edition of Free e-Book Matching Gift Administration
The HEP/CASE Matching Gift Network,
the premier broker of matching gift information, is pleased to announce
the publication of the fourth edition of its popular e-book Matching Gift Administration: Examining the Evolving World of Matching Gifts -- now, for the first time available for free!
Matching gift programs are growing in popularity because they enable
individual donors to increase the power of their gifts, and they can be
tailored to almost any budget. But as companies develop and implement
matching gift programs, they are faced with many questions, including:
- How do organizations learn about matching gift programs?
- How can organizations guarantee compliance with eligibility
- What kind of information should organizations provide a company
with so that they may qualify to receive a matching gift?
- Who is responsible for ensuring that matching gifts are administered appropriately and ethically?
This 57-page book, available for free upon request as a PDF file,
answers those questions by providing an extensive discussion of best practices and ethical considerations followed by a comprehensive selection of real-world case studies, discussions, and worksheets to provide practical, hands-on guidance in developing and implementing an effective matching gift program.
The HEP/CASE Matching Gift Network, which helps companies create or
enhance matching gift programs and helps nonprofits maximize funds
raised through employer matching gifts, was established in July 2007 as a
partnership of the CASE Matching Gifts Clearinghouse and HEP
Development Services. Their combined resources enable fundraisers and
donors to more easily identify match opportunities and thereby raise
more funds for their organizations. For more information, contact the HEP/CASE Matching Gift Network, 105 Loudoun Street, SW, Suite One, Leesburg, VA 20175, toll-free 888-669-5602, or email@example.com.
